Armor Of Faith

Duration: Cleric Rank squared hours
Description: Provides level worth of DR (double for followers of Ug). Here is the catch – it must be tracked for every pair of combatants, as it is given to whoever did not strike first. For example, you have PCs A & B and bad guy C. The spell is cast on A & B at level 2 and neither is a follower. C waltzes up and strikes A. A strikes C, as does B. At this time, A has 2 points of armor against C and C has 2 points of armor against B. C’s armor is only against B and B has no armor from the spell. Simply put, if you strike first, the bad guy gets the benefit.
Betrayer’s Mark

Description: A visible mark for all to see; those witnessing the mark will know the truth of the betrayal or offense.

Circle Of Protection

Range: Innermost ring up to 2 x Cleric Rank in yards, outermost ring up to 5 x Cleric Rank in yards Time to Cast: 10 seconds
Duration: 12 hours or until disturbed
Description: Two radius effects are used. The outermost radius circle will notify those crossing with hostile intent that they should leave peacefully. Sentient creatures may choose to continue, non-sentient creatures save vs. Will – Cleric Rank or they must leave. When the second circle is breached by creatures with hostile intent (or hostile actions, such as bowfire), all sentient creatures within the circle are immediately awakened, alert, and know the precise location of all hostile creatures within the first (outermost) ring. Note that in the case of ranged hostilities stemming from beyond the outermost ring, precise location will not be known.
Compel Truth

Description: Merely reinforces the subject’s conscience. The target will be subjected to guilt, remorse, etc.
Conscience (Permanent)

Description: Merely reinforces the subject’s conscience. The target will be subjected to guilt, remorse, etc.
Cure Disorder

Range: Touch Time to Cast: 1 minute
Duration: Instant
Description: Permanently removes a psychological disorder that promotes causing offenses against others against the will of the subject. For example, someone with kleptomania may steal from others due to the illness rather than by consciously choosing to steal. The purpose of this healing spell is to ensure any offenses given is truly done by choice. If the target is a PC, the player of the target character must still pay off the price of the removed disadvantage – this spell, however, will justify the removal of such a disorder whereas otherwise viable.
Divine Justice

Range: Line of sight Time to Cast: 10 seconds
Duration: Instant
Description: Cast on a subject and, assuming they fail their save, the caster knows the appropriate form of justice to administer, as well as who should actually administer the punishment (i.e. the victim). This does not require prior knowledge of the crime. The appropriate form of justice is determined by Ug (read: the GM) and the cleric merely receives the information.
Divine Justice (Public)

Duration: Instant
Description: Cast on a subject and, assuming they fail their save, all people capable of seeing the subject know the appropriate form of justice to administer, as well as who should actually administer the punishment (i.e. the victim). This does not require prior knowledge of the crime. The appropriate form of justice is determined by Ug (read: the GM) and the recipients merely receive the information. Note that they do not need to be actually looking at the subject, but must be able to see the subject (e.g. in the same room).
Expeditious Avenger
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 3 Clerical Points: 5
Type: Regular Resisted: NA
Range: Touch Time to Cast: 1 minute
Duration: Permanent until target found (see description)
Description: This spell is cast on someone (touch) seeking deadly vengeance, whether for themselves or another. Once cast, with a specific living target in mind, their move is tripled, they do not fatigue, they do not require food or water or sleep, and are immune to magical spells (not divine, however). It lasts until the target of the vengeance is found, at which time the effects are lost (no combat bonuses). Here are the catches: once cast, finding the target is the ONLY objective the recipient can pursue and once the spell ends, you have 6 hours to slay your target and recover some of what was lost. In other words, if meals were lost, you must eat a full meal. If sleep was lost, you had best be asleep at the end of the 6 hours. Also note that at the end of the 6 hours, either the target or the recipient will be dead, the spell will not allow both to live. Limit of recipients to Cleric Rank of non-believers + all willing believers. First one to find the target causes all to lose benefits of spell.
Heal Minor Wounds

Range: Touch Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Description: Standard clerical healing spell – 1d6 plus caster level. A few differences exist, however. If the recipient has justifiably sought revenge in the last 24 hours (or is currently seeking revenge), healing amount is doubled. If the recipient has lied in the last 24 hours, the spell will heal the cleric instead (or be ineffective if the healer does not require healing). If the recipient has lied in the last 24 hours AND is a follower of Ug, the spell will instead perform as a Cause Light Wounds and the damage caused can only be healed by time, rest, prayer and penance.
Know Local Laws

Duration: Knowledge will stay for Cleric Rank days, although earned points can be applied to make the skill permanent
Description: When cast, it allows the recipient to know the laws of the jurisdiction (at IQ +1 or a 15, whichever is higher), as well as the boundaries to which those laws apply. Repeated usage in the same area (jurisdiction) will increase the volume of info.
Know Thy Victim’s Pain

Range: Touch, victim or component; 10 yard for perpetrator Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: 1 minute / permanent
Description: This spell causes the recipient to re-live the crime or offense from the perspective of their victim. The process will only take up a minute of time, but will seem like the actual entire event to the subject. They will retain perfect memories of the event. The spell requires a component from the victim, typically a strand of hair or apparel. Subject cannot be attacked while under the influence of this spell.
Know Truth

Duration: Cleric Rank in hours
Description: This spell is used to determine the truth of statements made by others. Note that this can not give unknown info beyond the truthfulness of a statement. For example, if a cleric casts this on themselves at a murder scene and then someone assisting with the investigation says “I killed this person”, the cleric would know the truth of that statement – that they didn’t actually kill the person. They will not get the info of who actually did kill the person.
Major Bless
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 3 Clerical Points: 5

Description: As Bless, but also grants first-hit absolution. Once blessed, you are protected from the first attack to hit you – unless you cause harm or otherwise betray another.
Raise Dead (Follower of Ug)

Type: Regular Resisted: Automatic, may choose to not resist
Range: Touch Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Description: This spell will give life to one whose slayer still stands. Can be cast in one combat round and can only be cast once per person per opponent (one chance for revenge). If the spell is cast within caster level rounds of death, recipient does not have CON or memory loss.
Raise Dead (Non-Follower)

Type: Regular Resisted: Automatic, may choose to not resist
Range: Touch Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Description: This spell will give life to one whose slayer still stands. Seek Needful Vengeance
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 3 Clerical Points: 5
Type: Information Resisted: NA
Range: No range penalties associated Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Description: When this spell is cast, the cleric will get a direction, a distance, and a face of someone whose very soul cries out for vengeance. Target is determined by Ug and is not necessarily selected by proximity. If distance is not prohibitive, then it is considered sacrilegious to ignore the soul-cry for vengeance.
Note that it has been known for clerics to receive the effect of this spell (and clerical point loss) without actually casting the spell on purpose. Ignoring these results typically have dire consequences for the cleric.
Seek Retribution
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 4 Clerical Points: 7

Range: Line of sight Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: Until retribution completed
Description: This spell is essentially a divine form of Geas. When cast upon someone who has committed a crime or committed an offense against someone, they will be geased to make amends. The actual retribution will be known to them (comes from Ug, not the cleric) and they will be compelled to completion of the geas. No save. If no crime is specified and there are multiple crimes to choose from, the most serious (GM decision) will be targeted.
Seek Transgression
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 5 Clerical Points: 9
Type: Information Resisted: NA
Range: No range penalties associated Time to Cast: 10 seconds
Duration: Instant
Description: When this spell is cast, the cleric will get a direction and distance. These factors point to a transgression that has yet to happen but could be potentially stopped before it happens.
Seek Transgressor
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 3 Clerical Points: 5
Type: Regular Resisted: NA
Range: Touch Time to Cast: 10 seconds
Duration: Instant
Description: When cast upon a victim of a crime, it will return a direction and distance of the transgressor for a known crime (or the most recent crime if the actual crime is unknown). At higher levels, more info on the transgressor will be available, such as name and appearance, etc.
Turn Undead
Requirements: Ug Cleric Rank 1 Clerical Points: 1
Type: Area Resisted: Undead level vs. remaining Clerical points
Range: Cleric’s Rank x 4 yards Time to Cast: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Description: The divine power repels or even destroys undead. The cleric rolls against their remaining clerical points added to 10, and each undead within the area must resist with their effective turn resistance (their level added to their base turn resistance; skeletons might be level 1 while lord vampires might be level 20, and various undead types might be more resistant to turning than their level would indicate). If the cleric wins the contest, the undead must flee for rounds equal to the cleric’s rank plus 4. If the cleric wins by more than the undead level, then the undead is destroyed. If the cleric fails, the undead automatically tracks and attacks the cleric with a bonus equal to the failure number, and will only attack others who are in their way. Once a turn has failed on a particular undead, the affected undead cannot be turned again by the same cleric.

Additional Notes

  • It should be noted that all Ug clerical spells have no save possible at all for followers of Ug. I mean, hey, they trust their cleric, right?
  • In all instances, the cleric will know if a save against their spell was successful or not. I mean, hey, Ug will be open and honest with his followers, right?
