Benefits of joining a religion
When you join a religion, a cleric takes the time to explain the basic theology, the way to please the god, the actions which will cause displeasure.
When you pray each day, you get benefits. If you displease your god, you don’t get these benefits.
Bonig – Rapid healing, but you can’t hurt living creatures.
Dixon – Gain character points 5% faster (rounded down, minimum 1 per session), have a duty to help mankind through learning and teaching.
Thalm – You can detect wealth in an individual once per day, but you have duty to share some of the wealth you gain with the poor.
Thalm Reformed – You can detect wealth in an individual once per day. The disadvantage is not publicly known. [Sorry, not a PC playable religion at this time.]
Ug – Without haggling you get a good price from merchants who see your holy symbol, but your duty to church forces you to trust everyone until they prove untrustworthy, and to help all who have been wronged to get an eye for an eye – even revenge.
Ug Punisher – Without haggling you get a good price from merchants who see your holy symbol, but your duty to church forces you to trust everyone until they prove untrustworthy, and to help all who have been wronged by killing the perpetrator.
Gaia – Most living creatures have a favorable reaction to you (as long as you don’t have a weapon out), but you have a duty to protect forests from fire, and can’t eat meat.
Umo – Your armor is just a little better against evil, and you don’t spend any money earned until you have tithe 10% to non-pc cleric. (Tithe = no benefit to you or your friends]
Fundamentalist Umo – Your armor is just a little better against evil and magic, but you take any shares in treasure to your church – money and magic is donated for destruction, you keep mundane items.
Reformed Umo – You get a bonus against mind-affects (fear, domination, sleep) from evil creatures. Duty to church includes tithing at some point.
Vollum – High pain threshold from anything chaotic, but low pain threshold from any member of the church of Vollum (not reformed vollum)
Reformed Vollum – High pain threshold and fearlessness, but low pain threshold from any member of the church of Vollum and members of the mainline Vollum church have negative reaction rolls to you.
Wololita – Fearlessness and respect from fellow warriors are yours and no members of the church will fight you with uneven odds, but your duty requires you to start a fight when challenged and fight to the death when your enemy wants you dead. Retreat is only an option when the odds are obviously astronomical against you. At least one enemy’s (non-natural) weapon must be delivered to holy ground as an offering.
Reformed Wololita – You pray for more excellence in one skill each morning (+1), but you have a duty to encourage the weak and wimpy to get better.
